I took these videos of Thunder and Storm running long single marks with my phone. It was raining so I could only take a tiny bit of video. It isn’t the greatest, but since my camera didn’t make it out to training at all this week, it is the best I have to offer. At least we had the pond to ourselves. 🙂 The multiple whistles you hear are from the soccer and football fields where they were either training or playing games. I think they had to be as soggy as we were.
We threw the mark (bumper) way up on the grass. The dogs started pretty far back from the edge of the pond and then had to swim across at an angle and then run over the little sandy/dirt area and climb up on the grass to find the bumper.
First up Thunder. He did very well on this and swam in a nice straight line. (You might have to make this video full size to see it. The cell phone takes small videos. :))
Next Storm. Bless her, she has been running so many Senior Tests that she just knew that bumper was on the edge of the pond. It didn’t take long before she hunted farther back and found the bumper.
And here is a picture of Thunder The Ham from last week’s training. He always seem to know where the camera is!

Have a nice weekend!

I love watching the videos. What I loved about Thunder’s was how his tail was still wagging as he was swimming back with his bumper (at least until he completely submerged.) What I liked about Storm’s was she went into the pond at an angle where she had less area to swim, which gave her more time to hunt around for the mark. Even with the extra time it took her to find the mark, she still beat Thunder’s time.
Thanks for sharing and have an incredible weekend!!
Storm was sent from a slightly different area. She had to swim more parallel to the bank. Since she had all summer with a trainer, she is a little more advanced on this, (knows not to get out of the water too soon). But Thunder’s over all mark was longer because he started further back and his return was straighter (which is nice because it isn’t always so straight…believe me…lol). But you are right, Storm is really fast when she wants to be, especially on land marks. We were really happy about her hunt because she had to be taught to get out of the water and hunt farther back on land. It was not something that came as naturally to her as it did to Thunder.
Well done to both dogs! I enjoyed the videos. 🙂
Great videos! I love the last picture of Thunder! That one that belongs in a frame!
Nice videos, I love how the dogs look right at the camera when they are coming back with the bird as if to say “do you see I have my bird” 🙂
