The 2 brown dawgs worked so hard this summer that they earned a little hunting break. Of course in preparation they tried on their hunting outfits. 🙂
In addition to waterfowl, they plan to do some grouse and woodcock hunting. These pictures are from the end of October last season.
Hopefully the 2 brown dawgs will have a lot of luck so that we can have a dinner or two of…
This is my quick and easy recipe for preparing grouse or woodcock breasts:
- Fry 1/4 pound of bacon in a fry pan
- Lightly dredge breasts in flour seasoned with dried herbs of your choice, (I use Penzeys Fox Point Seasoning)
- Remove bacon from pan and saute the grouse or woodcock breasts in the bacon fat until lightly browned and cooked through (Don’t over cook)
I know it isn’t low cal, but since we only get grouse a couple of times a year, we splurge. You can pair this with rice or crusty bread and a nice big salad. At least the salad is healthy. 🙂
Unfortunately the 2 brown dawgs will be so busy hunting that they won’t be able to visit any blogs next week. But they plan to catch up when they finish hunting. They won’t be totally absent from blog-land though because we scheduled a few posts. We hope you will stop by.

OMG They look SO great in their camouflage vests!! And I get such a kick out of how they pose in the exact same way in each picture – heads left, heads straight – amazingly trained! I can rarely even get Daisy to sit still! LOL Enjoy your hunting week, we look forward to your return!
Ha that is because my husband was getting his hunting stuff together in the basement and oh they just wanted to go down there to see. But stay means stay….lol.
I love the picture of them in their vests, they are so adorable!! Hope you have fun hunting; we don’t hunt so we don’t get grouse or woodcocks to eat. But they sure look good.

Quite the Dog models guys – that’s more like it, I just get to wear Halloween costumes, well, we’ll see about that this year – I may refuse! 🙂
