I created This ‘N That Thursday for times when you want to post about unrelated topics or each topic isn’t quite long enough to make up a whole post.  It can be anything you want, so feel free to grab the button and join us!

This weekend we have both Thunder and Freighter entered in hunt tests.  Thunder is in a Masters test which starts on Friday.  Freighter is in two Junior tests which run Saturday and Sunday.  After the test on Sunday Freighter is coming home!

Hey Who Left A Rack Of Ducks Here?

When Freighter comes home we will be working a lot on his obedience and heeling.  All he has to do is hear a duck call and the guns and he forgets all that he knows.  He gets a bit crazy in the holding blind so we will need to practice sitting nicely.  At Sunday’s test he went to the starting line mostly on four legs, but he was trying for two which is not what you want.

He is still a puppy and thinks that he should try to visit all of the other dogs that he sees at the hunt test.  No puppy that will get you into trouble.  😆  At the test on Sunday the dogs had to walk down a long strip of land to get to the place they were running the test.  This meant they had to pass by dogs coming and going.  Freighter did a decent job passing the other dogs.  Not too much visiting.

Heading To The Line

Hunting season will be opening soon and my husband is itching to start to show Freighter the ropes.  Unfortunately Storm will miss hunting season this year.  This picture of Storm was taken yesterday morning.

What Do You Mean No Hunting?

They have finished the construction on our street, but not in the neighborhood.  Yesterday they were breaking up concrete and was it loud.  The brown dawgs will be happy when they finish.

What Is That Racket?

I will be tied up the next few days so I will wish you a good weekend today!

  1. WHAT? Are you saying what I think you’re saying?

Sampson would never do well at one of those tests, he is far too social a dog. Hubby says we socialized him too well. 🙁

  2. You have to wonder what the dogs think about all our rules. “WHY can’t I drag you around and visit every dog I see?”

Good luck on the tests this weekend!

  3. I can understand wanting to say hello to every other puppy at the test. Have a great weekend also!

  4. How great that Freighter will be coming home and that (fingers crossed) Storm won’t be hunting this season! I love it when you talk about Freighter, he still sounds like such a boy and he sounds like he still has so much puppy left in him. He is doing so well though. Glad to hear they’re done the construction on your street but boy the noise even on neighboring streets drive you nuts. Have a great weekend! 🙂

  5. Fingers crossed for Storm becoming a mommy! I agree with Donna – it’s so natural for our dogs to want to socialize with other dogs, they must think our rules are nutty! Hope Freighter comes home soon, he’s doing so well! 🙂

  6. Hi Y’all,

Just wanted to touch base with y’all. Sounds like y’all have great plans for the weekend! Good LUCK!!!

    Y’all come by now,
    Hawk aka BrownDog

  7. Good luck this weekend! We would hunt Nellie when she was pregnant until she was about 5 weeks along. She wasn’t having nothing to do with staying home just because we chose to breed her during hunting season. LOL

    1. As we co-own Storm we are trying to abide by what her breeder wants as far as her exercise level. The timing is unfortunate, but we figured we would rather get the breeding done this year so we can hit hunt test training hard over the winter and next spring rather than holding off the breeding until then. Well and I think he has puppy buyers waiting. 🙂

  8. Good thoughts for Storm! And Freighter? Well maybe he just needs to mature a bit more. My Mindy is a Very social butterfly/dog! lol

  9. Good this weekend! See you Sat when we run not to far after Frighter man. Tell Thunder not to think and do what he is bred to do!.

  10. Good luck this weekend! A friend of mine with English cockers is expecting a litter early next week. I’ll be thinking of Storm and her potential brood when I go puppy-sit!

  11. Good luck this weekend!

The waiting to know was the hardest part, wait maybe the waiting for her to go in labor, no wait the puppies to finally pop out, oh who am I kidding the whole thing was torture 😉

  12. Yay – Freighter’s coming home!! I hope you all have a great weekend,

    Your pal Snoopy 🙂

  13. What a great idea of collecting lots of tidbits in one post – I often have the similar problem…except you know me, I start writing a “tidbit” and it invariably turns into an essay!! 😛 I just can’t seem to “write short”.

Great to catch up on the 2 – or should I say 3 Brown Dawgs’ news! Storm looks beautiful in that picture!
