Today I am co hosting Follow-up Friday with Heart Like A Dog.  Thank you to Jodi for inviting me to co-host.

Hosted By Heart Like A Dog

I am going back a couple of weeks because I did not have a Follow-Up Friday Post last week.

Monday Mischief–Traffic

Kurome wanted to know why Freighter is in a cage.

Freighter Cillin’ While We Are Stuck In Traffic

I realize that you are a turtle Kurome and don’t have to deal with such things, 🙂 but we try to crate all of our dogs when we travel.  With three dogs in the car, it helps keep our sanity.  🙂

Foggy Pheasant Hunt

Molly The Wally wanted to know whether I cook the birds.  Yes I do.  In fact I cooked one of the pheasants when we were up at the cabin for our Thanksgiving break.  Since these were pen raised and not wild birds, they were not at all gamey.  You can pretty much treat them like chicken.

Pheasant And Dumplings

The pheasant farm cleaned and dressed them for us.  They were whole so I cut them in quarters, and made a crock pot pheasant and dumplings.  The thing with eating shot birds, you have to be careful of bee-bees.  🙂  I also tried to remove all of the small bones.  Normally I would have added vegetables to the crock, but since I was worried about the bee-bees and small bones getting mixed up in them, I elected to make a little salad on the side.

No Longer A Puppy

Thank you so much for all of the birthday wishes for Freighter.  I received a lot of great pictures of Freighter’s litter mates on their birthday’s.  I hope to find a bit of time to organize and share them here.

Monday Mischief–Getting A Better View

Rin Tin Tin aka Freighter

He’s channeling his inner Delilah.

Or his inner Storm.  😉

I have to confess Freighter learned from Storm that if he put his paws up on the bench or on the window sill he could see out better.  At least Storm leaves her back feet on the ground.  Hopping up like Rin Tin Tin was all Freighter’s idea.  (Am I dating myself with that reference?)

Long Life Cats and Dogs suggested that unless I can make the windows lower I would have to get used to it.  Well I put the Christmas tree right in front of that window and moved some furniture.  Hopefully that will discourage the further mischief. 😆

You’re so right about the Goldens following you everywhere! I’ve not gone to the bathroom, walked in a straight line through my house or done anything by myself at home in years! :-)

Ah see a fellow Golden owner knows.  🙂  For those who don’t know, Kim has a whole pack of Goldens at her home.  Many are rescues or fosters in their senior years and down on their luck.  It takes a big heart to take in these senior dogs knowing that your time with them may be limited.  If you don’t know Kim, stop by and say “hi”.

Goldens are very social, but the thing about Chessies, they generally are more aloof.  They will check out what you are doing, get bored, and go off and do their own thing.  At least Thunder and Storm are like that.  🙂

Here are a couple of pictures of our Golden Retriever Gordie.  One of these days I would like to do a post on him, but I have to scan in the photos and I have not had the time.

A Past Christmas With Gordie

I still miss that face.

Snow Fun

SO … That’s ‘snow’
All I’ve heard is everyone saying to me ‘you wait until it snows’ and i have NO idea what they’re all talking about.

Bella is just a pup and has not yet seen snow.  Yes Bella that is snow.  The brown dawgs hope you get to play in some soon.  They want you to know that it is like a big field of Frosty Paws, or at least the must think it is the way they eat it.  🙂

Whee….

It has warmed up and unfortunately I think the snow has probably melted for now.

  1. Now I have drooled allover the keybaord at the sight of the lovely food. Yummy. I did not know that farmed birds are not so gamey. Have a fabulous Friday and we hope it is a great start to the weekend.
    Best wishes Molly

  2. Fun Follow Up! Good one on putting the tree in front of the window! Hope Freighter doesn’t get any ideas and try to go through it!

  3. Oooo that dinner looks yummy! And I love those plates – are they Johnson Bros? They have such wonderful patterns. Gordie sure was a beautiful dog.

    1. You know your china. 🙂 Yes it is Johnson Brothers, His Majesty, (which I think has been discontinued). Years ago I was having Thanksgiving dinner for my family just about every year. JC Penney had them in their catalog (that tells you how long ago it was). They were very inexpensive. I just bought 8 plates and 2 serving bowls. When we got the cabin I needed dishes up there and did not want to buy new so I took them up and they are what we use. I have added a couple of salad plates and bowls over the years.

  4. What a great follow up! Your dinner looks scrumptious! I just love your dinner plates too! Gordie was just adorable. 🙂

  5. We just had our first snowfall this morning and I actually was happy to see the ground covered in white. Unfortunately, it was too dark to take any pictures so I am hoping it lasts over the weekend so I can capture a few dog in snow photos myself.

Have a great weekend! I love your new background! 🙂

  6. Wild pheasant meat is really tough to cook, that meal looks delicious.
Personal I’m not a fan of any other bird, chicken and that’s it, I don’t even like turkey.

  7. Hey Freighter, Hey Storm, Jet here. Hi Miss Linda.

Since we have been away for awhile, we hope you don’t mind us sharing a bit of feedback:

    1. You are pawesome co-hosts of FUF.
    2. We love your festive holiday header and background.
    3. Belated Happy Bday to Freighter, he now is an adult manly man!
    4. Never knew you had a golden, we totally relate to the velcro aspect! (and Mom wouldn’t want it any other way!)
    5. Thanks for educating us on pheasants… what a lovely meal.
    6. You look so happy playing in the snow; as tropical K9s, JJ and I can only dream!

    Have a great day.

  8. Great follow-up and thank you so much for co-hosting! I shall add that it is a rare moment I have to myself in my house as I have a little shadow that seems to go everywhere I go.

Yes, he is channeling his inner Storm, I sometimes forget how alike she and Delilah are. 🙂

Have a great weekend and thank you again!!!

  9. I have never had Pheasant. That looks delicious.

  10. Hi Y’all!

Thanks for stoppin’ to visit me.

    Gordie is very handsome.

Tell Freighter to be careful with his tail around that Christmas tree!

    Y’all come back now,
    Hawk aka BrownDog

  11. Hi Browndawgs

That was a great follow up!! Freighter I love how you’ve customized the looking out of the window stance to suit your needs buddy!! 🙂 I so can’t believe you’re 1, I remember when you were just a little puppy!! I hope you had a fab birthday! 🙂

    Have a fun weekend,

    Your pal Snoopy 🙂

  12. We enjoyed reading your Friday Follow-Up. Yum, yum, I would sure enjoy some creamed pheasant. I have not had pheasant since I moved from Oklahoma. Love the pictures of Freighter getting a better look and Goldie in front of the Christmas tree. Hugs and nose kisses

  13. I know I have said this to you guys many times but I wish we had some snow here! It looks so lovely. Don’t worry, Bella, I have never played in the snow either and I hoping to soon someday!
