We were up at our cabin vacationing last week. Our place is next to state forest land and normally we enjoy taking walks in the forest to tire out the dogs. However, for safety during firearm deer season hunting season we stay out of the forest.
So how to tire out one very energetic 3-year-old?
A game of retrieve of course.
We headed out to the back yard and threw a few bumpers for Freighter.
Lucky for us there was some snow which makes finding the bumper a bit more challenging.
Since the bumpers sort of blend into the snow, Freighter really had to use his nose to dig it out.
After a couple retrieves we moved up a bit. This changed Freighter’s perspective and the spot where the bumper landed. He had to push past where he had just found the first few bumpers to find the next one.
Tomorrow we have a pheasant hunt booked for the dogs. The dogs should get a good workout hunting the field.
Many thanks too SlimDoggy, MyGBGV Life, and To Dog with Love for the FitDog Friday Blog Hop!
I’m so jealous that you had snow! I’ve always loved playing with the dogs out in the snow since I was a little girl. When we had the snow in February of 2013, We had a great time playing out in the yard — until Callie tore her first ACL. Ducky had a blast walking plotzing through it as she was only a year old and had never seen the white stuff before.
Wow, that’s a lot of snow…great exercise to run through that as well as the fetch game. I bet he was tired out 😉
Those are some really cool snow photos, it looks like a ton of snow. Great way to tire a 3 year old out. Have a great time at the pheasant shoot tomorrow.
Looks like Freighter had a good time tiring himself out. I wish that snow would head over here – we’ve only been teased with a dusting so far.
Magical. It really is a Winter Wonderland over there. Good luck for the hunt. Have a fabulous Friday.
Best wishes Molly
A wonderful and fun workout for Freighter. Snow adds such a fun challenge to activities.
Happy hunting!
Wish I could play in the snowooowoooooo with youwooowoooooooo!
Against the white snow Freighter looks so good!
Freighter is so cute! I love the snowy pictures! Retrieve is one of our favorite games, too!
Great workout and stunning pictures as always Brown Dawgs!
Beautiful pictures! I LOVE when the snow is still piled up on the trees. It never lasts quite long enough, but the world looks so magical when it’s there!
Oh boy! I could never do what you do with Retrieve! Great job!
Mommy laughed when she read “some snow” and then looked at the photos. That’s more than “some” snow in our book, but it’s absolutely beautiful and Freighter looks so handsome with that winter white backdrop.
Hi Y’all!
Now that is what I call snow! My Humans hope they are back in the low country before anything like that is seen around here!
Y’all come on by now,
Hawk aka BrownDog
Playing in the snow is so much fun and such a great workout for them. I love to watch them searching in the snow for toys!
Looks like a great way to get some exercise in!
What great fun, and what great photos too–And getting exercise too, just makes it all that much more perfect!
Oooh, I absolutely love these photos. The combination of the dog and the snow is just perfect.
Wow, you got a lot of snow. Sweet Freighter certainly seemed to be enjoying finding the bumper in all that snow. Amazing pictures as always…I so enjoy them. Hugs and nose kisses for you all from me and mine.
Neat! We’re going to be traveling your way soon, we’ll see how Mr. N handles seeing snow again.
