Storm made a trip to the vet last weekend for vaccinations and a wellness check.  Her Lepto vaccine is normally due in the fall and we like to have it done before hunting season.  We also wanted to get a fecal test done for her.  We try to do one for each of the dogs every year just to make sure they have not picked up any parasites.  Storm loves to snack on things in the yard and we had a resident bunny who left her snacks in the spring.  It was a pleasant surprise when her sample was negative.

At 8 years old Storm is a senior dog.  Storm had a little check-up before she got her vaccine.  The vet listened to her heart, felt her lymph nodes, looked in her mouth and asked a few questions about her general health.  I love the vet we use.  They do not charge for an office visit when they are giving vaccines.  The exam is included in the cost of the vaccine and the vaccine prices are reasonable.  Storm had blood work done last winter when she had her teeth cleaned so we did not need to repeat that.

The vet was impressed with how fit and in condition Storm is for an 8 year old dog and declared her a healthy senior dog.  Storm was just happy the visit was over.

  1. Exercise is the best preventative medicine! Love the intro photo! Such a powerful girl!

  2. I had no doubt that I would read that Storm is a healthy senior dog! Shadow feels the same way about vet visits.

  3. So glad that Storm’s visit went so well! That is definitely a great vet you have there, including the exam in the cost of the vaccines seems like a great deal.

  4. Mum says that she wishes the vet closest to us did not charge $50+ for an office visit for every time I go for a shot, etc. There are other vets, but they need us to take transportation, whereas this one is within walking distance!!! Mum is also saying (threatening?) to take me to the big dog park (about a mile away rather than here in the complex). She really needs to remember that I would willingly go — she’s the lazy one, bol

  5. This is great, Storm! Donna’s annual check does not coincide with her vaccination. It’s generally a physical examination, sounds somewhat like Storm’s but without a fecal test. Now you got me thinking if we should do that every few years or something, since Donna doesn’t really pick things of the street to taste.

    1. I don’t think you need to worry too much about doing a fecal on Donna. She is an only dog and doesn’t spend time picking up birds or eating things she should not. 😉 You can speak with your vet, but if she is not showing symptoms, I would not bother.

  6. Hi Y’all!

Storm and SandSpring’s Glory are good models; it is possible to get your former figure back after becoming a mom.

    Y’all come on by,
