Our temperatures are warming up and I think Spring is on its way.  Of course in Michigan we can still get a late season snow.  Late snows usually don’t stick around for long so when we get them, the dogs better make the most of them.

Some people take kongs and fill them with all kinds of tasty treats, stick them in the freezer to make their doggies a frozen kong.  Storm would not object to that, but she is also content to roll her kong around in the snow and make her own frozen kong.  It is one of the perks of Winter as far as she is concerned.

Do your dogs like to freeze their toys in the snow?

  1. I give Phoebe part of each meal in her Kong. She loves it, and no added calories. It slows down her eating process, too. We have a bowl designed for that, but the Kong adds another fifteen minutes of eating enjoyment. I do love Kongs. One of the best toys ever invented!

  2. Storm. you are such a good looking dog. Looks like you have great fun with that Kong. Great picture.

  3. Easy likes ice cream but I think he wouldn’t make his own frozen snacks (probably because he is a boy lol). I’m not even sure if he would spend more than 2 minutes in the snow :o)

  4. Bailie has a few outdoor toys that freeze in the winter. Sometimes she enjoys digging them out of the snow, but she usually doesn’t play much with them until they thaw. I don’t think she likes the hardness.

  5. Do not ask how or where it came from. One day last week Erynn came to the door with a rather frosty purple espadrille, caked with snow. It was all right outside, but once it hit the heat = yucky!
Threw it back outside and for the next week it was the favorite flip, chew and trotting toy. Before that it was an orange and blue soccer ball, a stick, plastic bottle and sardine can! An array of frozen companions Even a wooden clothespin!!

  6. I have always found kongs too hard to throw to use as outdoor fetching toys- not when I have discs or balls available, anyway. And in snow, we just play with snowballs! The dogs catch them, eat them, and then I make another.

    1. Our dogs will retrieve snowballs too, but kong is Storm’s absolute favorite toy.

  7. I tried commenting under my WordPress account yesterday and today, and my comments disappear immediately and don’t reappear (the one from yesterday didn’t appear today, so I am assuming that you aren’t screening comments before letting them post, I don’t think there was anything in my comment that would make you not want it posted).

  8. That is too cute – Storm is making her own fun! Luke and Sheba like to try to sneak out stuffie toys into the snow and freeze them! That may just be because they know they’re not supposed to take those outside (they can be sneaky!).
