This is the Follow-up Friday Blog hop.  Thank you to Heart Like A Dog for hosting the blog hop that:

Lets you wrap up your week and leads you right into the weekend.

Seeing Beautiful

I was in a huge rush to get this post drafted before leaving to go up to our cabin.  I wanted to thank our pal Goose for alerting me to this hop and SUGAR’s generous offer to donate a dollar to benefit the St. Anne’s Center, specifically the Lantern House Pet Area for everyone who joined the hop.  This is a cause near and dear both Goose and his human Pastor Michelle’s hearts.  If you do any end of the year gift-giving, (something that we do in our house), maybe you could consider this worthy cause.

Monday Mischief–Icy Weekend

I took Freighter for a walk and it was a bit icy, especially when we got to the part of our walk where we had to walk down a hill.  When I started out, I could have gone the other direction so that I would have walked up the hill.  I think that would have been a bit easier.  Note to self–other direction in winter.

Adventureweiner (@Adventureweiner) suggested something called Yaktrax.  I have heard of these and considered them.  Generally I avoid ice because I am not that coordinated.  If I had to walk that road more often, I would definitely consider them.  For now, I try to buy boots with good treads.

Christmas Photo Out Takes

I don’t know what I was thinking trying to take a picture of three dogs together.  Last year I couldn’t even manage two together.  Maybe that is why, as Bassetmomma said, it looks like Thunder is giving me the stink eye in the last picture.

Wordless Wednesday–A Home Of My Own

I bought that little house bed for Nestle a few years ago.  I think it was about a year before she even tried it out.  I thought she would like it because it would be a bed she could cozy up in.  She was a rescue kitty living in a cage thing the rescue had at Petco.  That was not a great place for her because of all the hubbub at the store.  The rescue told me that she used to crawl under the cushion in her bed to sleep.  The rescue also told me that she taught the other kitties near her to do the same thing.  To this day she still buries herself under covers and I sometimes wonder how she can breath.

The day we walked into the Petco, we were shopping for something for Thunder, (we did not have Storm yet).  Little Nestle mewed at my husband, who was not really a big fan of cats.  That was it, we filled out the application and I think the rescue person was anxious to get Nestle out of that environment because we didn’t even get back home before she called to tell us to come and get Nestle.

This ‘N That Thursday

Thanks for the camera suggestions.  The Nikon d3100 is a camera I am considering.  I really want a camera that allows me to change out lenses and is faster than my point and shoot.  I have not seen a Samsung set up that way, but I will look into that.  It helps me a lot to hear that people actually like the cameras they are using.  Online reviews only go so far for me.

Jodi wanted to know if I plan to take time off work after Freighter’s surgery.  The way the holiday falls, I will have some time and if necessary I can stay home with him on Friday.  The biggest issue will be keeping him from messing with his leg and you know what that means.  (But don’t tell him about the cone-of-shame just yet.  ;))

Some of you commented on how grown up Freighter looks.  I was noticing the same thing.  Just all of a sudden, he doesn’t look like a puppy to me anymore.  He is 13 months old today.

  1. You do a great job with your blog. I can’t keep up to make sure I do it everyday.
Guns has a very small nubbin on his front paw that is part of his dew claw. I am hoping it stays as small as it is. Good luck to Freighter and his small surgery.
A very Merry Christmas to you and Jim and your brown dogs from Rick and I and the 4 G’s.

  2. Hope all is well and you are all set for Christmas. Peeps is running around doing the headless chicken impersonation. Have a fabulous Friday.
    Best wishes Molly

  3. Hi Y’all!!

Yep! I was 14 months when I came to live with my Humans and I looked like a mature dog. If I do say so myself, I haven’t changed much since.

    Y’all come by now,
    Hawk aka BrownDog

P.S. Still havin’ computer problems, so my commenting is spotty at best.

  4. Thanks for joining FUF! What a great follow-up.

I have a set of yak traks and they actually come in quite handy. 🙂 Although presently I have no idea where they are. 🙂

You had one photo where all three were at least looking at the camera, I can’t even get two to do that!

    Have a great weekend.

  5. Nestle is beautiful…those eyes! And Freighter looks like a teenager…almost grown up but not quite…He is very handsome

  6. Hope you have a great weekend! I’m glad you did this post today because now I feel like after almost a week off, I’m all caught up! Freighter certainly does look grown up all of a sudden!

  7. What a great follow up! I just loved hearing the story of how you got Nestle. She is one lucky kitty and so beautiful! Freighter really does look like a big boy now. 🙂

  8. Playing catch up here…I feel like I’ve missed so much. Hope you have a wonderful Christmas. Hugs to your pack from mine.

  9. Hey Freighter,

Amazing how fast we get all grown up, hey buddy, you sure have changed fast, but you’re still a pup at heart, right?! 🙂

I have no idea why the humans try to take Christmas photos including us either? For us it was hard enough getting the kids to stop messing about (Yep, they’re teenagers!) and then Dad wanted to hold me and for me to look at the camera and not move or my fur is blurry, crazy idea, but finally they got one decent shot so everyone was happy!! 🙂

Have a wonderful time over the holidays,

    Your pal Snoopy 🙂
